A. Lee Hannah

Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. I am an associate professor of political science in the School of Social Sciences and International Studies at Wright State University. I earned my Ph.D. in political science from Penn State University in 2015.
My research and teaching interests primarily focus on state politics and the diffusion and construction of public policy. I have written extensively on medical and adult-use marijuana policy. My work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Public Administration Review, Policy Studies Journal, Publius, and State and Local Government Review. I have also written about my research in the London School of Economics United States Politics and Policy blog, The Monkey Cage blog at The Washington Post, The Conversation, The Globe Post, and Scholars Research Network. I am currently working on two books with Daniel J. Mallinson related to marijuana policy.
I have also researched the structure of local political parties and examined their online behavior. My work has appeared in Party Politics, Research & Politics, and Political Research Quarterly. I am also interested in secondary public education and how teachers are influenced by federal and state policies, particularly when teaching controversial subjects. This work has been published in Science and Climatic Change.
